    In yet another brutal farm murder, a 53-year-old farmer’s body was found partially covered with a bin. The farmer, Hendrik Pistorius, sustained blunt force trauma against the right side of his head.

    Eskom will implement Stage 2 load shedding from 16:00 on Friday afternoon until 24:00 on both Saturday and Sunday this WEEKEND.

    A weather WARNING has been issued for parts of the country for Saturday by the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

    A big twist in the murder case of actress Ashrika Seeripat shocked the country when her own mother was arrested and charged with her murder. 

    Her mother, the 72-year-old mother Devika, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

    Following days of sporadic protests in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell stuck to her promise of meeting the residents on Friday.

    Addressing the community at the Mehlareng Stadium in the morning, she responded to their memorandum of grievances.

    Brutal murder of well-known Piketberg farmer condemned

    Following the murder of well-known Piketberg farmer, Hendrik Pistorius, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has reinforced its call for the devolution of policing powers to provinces in order to enable the Western Cape to immediately reinstate rural safety units.

    Pistorius was allegedly murdered in the early morning on Wednesday, 3 August 2022, on a farm in Piket Bo-Berg, 30 kilometers outside Piketberg in the Western Cape. The 53-year-old farmer’s body was found partially covered with a bin, and he sustained blunt force trauma against the right side of his head.

    Hendrik Pistorius who was reportedly a well-known and respected member of the community, was declared deceased on the scene by the time police arrived.

    Stage 2 load shedding planned for WEEKEND- find your schedule here

    Eskom will implement Stage 2 load shedding from 16:00 on Friday afternoon until 24:00 on both Saturday and Sunday this WEEKEND.

    Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said this is due to the continued shortage of generation capacity.

    “The capacity constraints are exacerbated in the delay in returning a generation unit to service each Arnot, Koeberg and Kusile Power stations. This includes the unplanned breakdowns of a generation unit each at Camden, Grootvlei, Lethabo, Majuba, Medupi and two units at Hendrina power stations.”

    Mom, 72, of slain actress ARRESTED and charged with her murder

    Slain Umzinto actress Ashrika Seeripat’s mother has been arrested and charged with her murder.

    Seeripat’s domestic worker was originally charged with her murder after the 42-year-old actress’ body was found in her home after what appeared to be a robbery. At the time, 53-year-old Bongi Mbili told authorities that a group of men held them up at gunpoint and demanded money.

    Seeripat was allegedly suffocated and her body was found on the side of her bed, Mbili was arrested shortly after. While appearing before the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court, Mbili abandoned her bail application.

    8 PROMISES Ekurhuleni Mayor made to Tembisa residents

    Following days of sporadic protests in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell stuck to her promise of meeting the residents on Friday.

    Addressing the community at the Mehlareng Stadium in the morning, she responded to their memorandum of grievances.

    The township experienced road blockages and violence earlier this week during the protests. This led to the death of four people, two of whom allegedly died while trying to bomb an ATM.

    Weather WARNING for veld fires issued for parts of SA

    A weather WARNING has been issued for parts of the country for Saturday by the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

    It warned of veld fire conditions in the Northern Cape from 09:00 on Saturday morning until 19:00 on Saturday evening. 

    “Conditions are such that the Fire Danger Index (FDI) is above 75. Under these conditions, fires may develop and spread rapidly, resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life.”
