Fans can’t wait for season three after The Wife shared a teaser of the new Mqhele Zulu played by Uzalo actor Wiseman Ncube. The telenovela revealed that fan-favourite actor Bonko Khoza, who played the taxi driver in seasons one and two has been replaced.

The #5amgang took to social media this week to congratulate SAFTA-winning actor Wiseman Mncube, who plays Sibonelo in Uzalo for bagging the role.

Stained Glass TV which produces The Wife confirmed his exit with Drum Magazine:

“Stained Glass, the production company behind The Wife, has confirmed that Bonko Khoza, who played Mqhele in the first two seasons, isn’t returning in Season 3 of the record-breaking, Twitter-topping Showmax Original telenovela. They’re currently casting for his replacement.”

When the new season starts in November, Gaisang K Noge will be in the lead as doctor Naledi Montsho, who is in love with Qhawe Zulu.

Series producer Kamogelo Aphane says it is expected that fans will find it hard to adjust to the new Mqhele.

“We know fans are going to find it hard to let go of their picture of Mqhele as Bonko, just as they found it hard, when he was the first cast, to let go of the bug-eyed Mqhele they had pictured from the book ”

“But The Wife has shown that when you go looking for new talent in South Africa, you find it. So we encourage the 5 am club to open up their hearts to the next Mqhele and help us continue to open up the industry.”
