A-Reece dumps SA Hip Hop Awards nominations

South African rapper A-Reece has stunned the music scene after he and his brother Jay Jody withdrew from the SA Hip Hop Awards.

Revenge Club Records released a statement on behalf of A-Reece and Jay Jody regarding their withdrawals from the awards.

“Johannesburg (19 November 2022), on or before 14 November 2022, the South African Hip-Hop Awards announced their nominees for the year 2022 and the respective categories. Our Artists received a nomination for Mixtape of the Year and Lyricist of the Year,” the record company stated.

“We acknowledge the significance of the South African Hip-Hop Awards and the role the organization plays in enhancing and growing the culture. Receiving recognition for your art will always be an honour,” the record company further stated.

“Be that as it may, we wish to formally decline all nominations received by our Artists, for the year 2022. We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate all the nominees, may your efforts yield positive outcomes.”

The SA Hip Hop Awards went on to respond to the statement.

    It read:

“The South African Hip Hop would like to announce that the South African rapper, A-Reece has withdrawn from the 11th Annual South African Hip Hop Awards and will not be participating in the ceremony this year.

A-Reece has been a highlight of our last couple of shows and he deservedly had an amazing night, winning two awards namely Mixetape Of The Year and Lyricist Of The Year at The 10tb edition of the SA Hip Hop Awards last year. We appreciate and welcome his decision to withdraw his submissions and not be part of the show anymore, furthermore we’d like to wish him and his management well for the future”.

The question WHY A-Reece has decided to snub these awards still lingers to many unanswered.
