    Local muso Nomisupasta completes star-studded I AM Live lineup [listen]

    Bassline fest’s annual I AM Live concert is set to take place on Saturday 21 May at Constitutional Hill in Johannesburg. Completing the star-studded lineup is award-winning genre-bending musician Nomisupasta. Speaking to Eyewitness News, Nomisupasta said she’ll be performing songs that have always been in the hearts of her fans.

    WHO IS NOMISUPASTA? 

    Nomsa Mazwai, popularly known as Nomisupasta, has a unique African sound. The singer-songwriter and activist tackles several topics in her music including love and politics.

    She has performed at several music festivals across the country including the Afropunk Johannesburg festival in December 2019. 

    Nomisupasta graduated with a Master’s degree in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University in New York. 

    Some of her most popular songs include Nguwe and Traveller featuring Black Coffee and Black Motion.

    NOMISUPASTA TAKES THE I AM LIVE CONCERT 

    Nomisupasta told Eyewitness News that she’ll be giving the audience a “new adventure” during her performance. 

    “I’m working with new artists, emerging talent and some extraordinary creatives. I believe the combination will produce something I hope everyone jams too.”

    “I am doing the songs that I know placed me in the hearts of many. I’m reclaiming a space with Nomisupasta golden oldies and a few new song surprises,” she added.

    EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT THE I AM LIVE CONCERT 

    Paige Holmes, the I AM Live promoter, said: “The festival is set to be a day of music and celebration of our humanity, resilience and overall incredible creativity and talent that our beautiful African continent births.”  

    Local producer Sun-El Musician, Bongeziwe Mabandla and London-based musician Nakhane Toure will all be performing at the concert. 

    This will be Nakhane’s first performance in South Africa since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
