Talented actor Ayanda Daweti exits ‘Scandal!’ for ‘Gomora’

Gomora actor Ayanda Daweti has become the last Langa to exit Scandal! after his sister Xolile Langa and his mother Boniswa Langa played by actresses Sivenathi Mabuya-Bukani and Lusanda Mbane left the show in 2021.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela has confirmed that Scandal!’s fan-favourite actor Ayanda Daweti – who played the character of Chumani Langa has joined Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Gomora.

Daweti will play the role of a gangster named Sizwe who is Gugu’s (Velile Makhoba) love interest.

Viewers of the telenovela spotted Daweti in season two in Thati (Katlego Danke) and Phumlani’s (Buyile Mdladla) apartment when he was dropping off their daughter Gugu.

He joins the world of crime and gangsterism under the wing of notorious criminal Qhoqhoqho, according to Phil Mphela.

Daweti’s on-screen sister Sivenathi Mabuya (Xolile Langa) left e.tv’s Scandal! on 7 September 2021 five days after her on-screen mother Boniswa also bid farewell to the show.

Mabuya told her fans and followers that she won’t be appearing on the show for a while and that she was appreciative of the show for the opportunity.

Their father Siseko Langa was played by The River Hlomla Dandala – who left the show a few years ago to join the 1Magic telenovela.

Mabuya stated on her social media:

“This is not goodbye, this is till we meet again. I mean it’s @officialetvscandal after all.”

“Thank you for the love, support, and recognition.”

“These past four years have been magical … it was an absolute honour to play this character and to be a part of many families’ lives/homes in this country.”

Lusanda Mbane who currently plays the character of Makhosazana in Imbewu: The Seed told Daily Sun that leaving her character was bittersweet as she’d become a part of her.

“Now I have to come back more to myself and remove Boniswa because she was really part of Lusanda.”

She also told the publication that she was so involved in the character that she’d sometimes say something and notice that it was Boniswa that was speaking and not her.
