In celebration of Africa Day on Wednesday 25 May, YouTube will be hosting its third annual Africa Day Concert which is aimed at showcasing some of the best talent on the continent. This year, the concert will be hosted by English actor and songwriter Idris Elba and will feature the likes of Davido, Kamo Phela, CKay and Tanzanian singer, Zuchu.
YOUTUBE’S AFRICA DAY CONCERT
YouTube’s Africa Day Concert brings together people from across the world to celebrate a continent that is home to more than 1.5 billion people. This year’s concert promises show-stopping performances from talented African music stars.
The concert is set to feature artists from Nigeria, Sierra Leona, Tanzania, South Africa and Congo.
“YouTube as a platform has been a mainline for connecting African artists to people all around the world and the Africa Day Concert is an opportunity to reaffirm YouTube’s support for African artists as they showcase the vibrant sounds and culture that makes Africa truly unique,” said Alex Okosi, managing director of emerging markets of YouTube EMEA.
WHAT TO EXPECT
From Nigeria, talented musicians D’banj, Davido, CKay, Yemi Alade, Reekado Banks and Mayorkun will be performing at the highly-anticipated African Day Concert.
Also set to perform are South African singer-songwriter and poet Busiswa and amapiano star Kamo Phela who is best known for her high-energy singly Nkulunkulu. Both musos collaborated on SBWL in September 2020.
