Yanga Endrey Nyalara, also known as Bara, appeared before the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning, 4 July. The South African Police Service (SAPS) issued a R100 000 reward for information that could lead to his arrest on 9 June.
NYALARA FACES 31 CHARGES
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said Nyalara is facing 31 charges, including 18 counts of murder, attempted murders, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and dealing and possession of drugs.
“He abandoned his right to bail and his case was postponed to 18 August 2022,” said Ntabazalila.
The State is likely to add charges as the investigation continues, said the NPA spokesperson.
According to SAPS, Nyalara’s crime spree began in Cape Town in 2016 with a business robbery. He is wanted for allegedly committing the aforementioned crimes between 2018 and 2022 as well as a cash-in-transit heist in Libode, Eastern Cape in 2018.
This is a developing story.
