Baby found crying HYSTERICALLY on murdered mother’s body

First a gunshot then a baby’s cry that led residents to a dirt road near Laezonia, where the mother’s lifeless body was discovered.

The discovery was made on Friday around 19:00, on Pretorius Street.

According to information by CERT-SA, a local resident heard what sounded like a gunshot near his home.

When they went to investigate, they could hear a baby crying, in the grass next to the road.

“Upon further investigation, they found a horror scene with a baby, laying on top of his mother in the grass next to the road.”

“The residents immediately called the local security company for assistance and called for help on a community emergency Whatsapp group.

“Upon arrival, we found a security reaction vehicle stationary next to a dirt road just off the R114 near Laezonia,”

    CERT-SA spokesperson, Ruan Heyns.

When CERT-SA arrived at the scene they were quickly taken to the spot where the lifeless body of a woman in her late 20s was lying.

They found her little boy laying on top of her chest, crying.

Heyns said the baby was quickly assessed for signs of injury as there were bloodstains on the baby’s hands. Furthermore, he said the baby was not injured in the incident and was just cold from laying outside for some time.

The baby was kept warm and an arrangement was made for her to be taken to a place of safety.

The mother was sadly announced dead on arrival. She had a visible gunshot wound to her chest.

Police were called to the scene and have opened up an investigation.

Meanwhile, Erasmia police spokesperson, Sergeant Tumisang Moloto confirmed the incident.

He said the woman in her late twenties had sustained a gunshot wound and she was declared dead.

“The infant was taken to a place of safety. A case of murder is opened at the Erasmia police station and is being investigated,” he said.

Furthermore, the Acting Station Commander Captain Simon Maredi has since assembled a team of detectives following the shooting incident.
