An elderly woman was declared dead on scene after her body was found floating on Ramsgate Beach, on the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) South Coast.
Members of the public walking on the beach reportedly called for assistance when they spotted what looked like the figure of a human floating in the surf on Monday, 8 August.

According to emergency service, Netcare 911, bystanders jumped into the water and retrieved the body of the elderly female.
Medics reportedly assessed the woman, however she showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.
“Circumstances leading up to the woman found floating in the water is not known, however the deceased was handed over to the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit for further investigation.”Netcare 911
BOY DROWNS AT KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
In a separate incident, a child drowned and lost his life after jumping into a pool during a day visit at the Skukuza Camp of the Kruger National Park on 17 July.
The nine-year-old boy was a day visitor at the Skukuza Camp. According to reports from the security officer, he noticed the boy’s body floating in the pool while doing his patrols.
“He jumped into the pool, pulled him out and performed CPR while waiting for medical assistance. The boy was unfortunately pronounced dead by the Skukuza residential doctor, who attended the scene ” said SANParks spokesperson Ike Phaahla.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) were notified. The police’s forensic team removed the boy’s body after collecting the evidence they required from the scene.
“An inquest docket has been opened by the police and the results of the investigation will be communicated to the next of kin in due course,” Phaahla said.
SANParks management conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the boy. The name of the family members and the deceased are being withheld for privacy purposes.
