An elderly woman was BRUTALLY attacked and murdered in a luxury golf estate in Mosselbay.
ELDERLY WOMAN WAS FOUND LIFELESS IN THE BEDROOM
The 79-year-old Margaretha Willemse was found seated on a chair in her bedroom with a wound to the neck, while her 87-year-old husband Johannes survived after sustaining multiple stab wounds.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie said the Garden Route Police had activated the 72-Hour plan through the mobilisation of specialised units and forensic experts who had been on the scene of a murder.

THE BRUTAL MURDER TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY
The attack happened on 04 June 2022 at Albatros Street, Pinnacle Point, Mossel Bay.
Pojie furthermore said preliminary information suggests that Johannes alerted the neighbour’s caretaker about his wife at about 10:00 on Saturday morning.
“They then went to inspect, and the witness found the deceased in the bedroom. They immediately alerted local police, which responded rapidly.
“Upon arrival, police found the lifeless body of the deceased, later identified as Margaretha S Willemse, in a chair in the bedroom with a wound to the neck.”Captain Malcolm Pojie
ELDERLY HUSBAND SUSTAINED MULTIPLE STAB WOUNDS
He said Johannes was admitted to the hospital with multiple stab wounds.
“The room was covered with bloodstains. Forensic experts were on the scene, busy combing for clues that can assist the police in the investigation.”
Pojie said the circumstances surrounding the incident form part of the investigation. Police opened a murder as well as an attempted murder case for further investigation.
THE MOTIVE FOR THE ATTACK AND MURDER UNKNOWN
“The motive at this stage is not yet known. However, burglary cannot be ruled out, but all possibilities are being probed.

According to a report by AlgoaFM the family’s attorney Llewelyn Curlewis, who has known the couple for 30 years, said that Johannes has dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Margaretha was a successful farmer in KwaZulu Natal up until two years ago.
THE ELDERLY COUPLE HAS THREE CHILDREN
Curlewis told the publication that the couple has three children, two of whom travelled to Mossel Bay after hearing the news.
Their one daughter is currently in Dubai celebrating her honeymoon.
