The body of a 40-year-old alleged kidnapping victim was discovered by a passerby in a field near Samaria Road, Kimberley on Tuesday morning, 21 June. The suspect was snatched in the same area over the weekend.
KIDNAPPED MAN FOUND DEAD NEAR CRIME SCENE
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the victim’s body was found at approximately 7:20.
“The kidnapping allegedly occurred on Saturday, 18 June 2022 at about 16:00 and police are looking for four unknown male suspects,” said Kock.
When the kidnapping was first reported, the police said the victim met with four unknown men for a bus appointment.
The suspects allegedly fired shots before kidnapping the victim and fleeing the scene in his red Opel Corsa bakkie.
The vehicle was found abandoned on Monday at approximately 21:00. It was near the crime scene. The police are investigating a case of murder, kidnapping and theft of a motor vehicle.
