    Mpumalanga: Driver critical after truck rolls and crashes into river

    A man has been left critically injured after his truck rolled crashing into a river off the N11 towards Hendrina, outside of Ermelo in Mpumalanga. 

    The driver who is believed to be around 40-years-old was found lying in the shallow water on Sunday morning. 

    TRUCK ROLLS AND CRASHES INTO RIVER NEAR ERMELO 

    According to ER24, paramedics and the Provincial emergency services reportedly arrived at 10:20 to find the wrecked truck and trailer on the side of the road in a small river. 

    The body of the driver, a man in his 40s, was found lying in the shallow water.

    “Medics assessed the man and found that he was in a critical condition, having sustained numerous injuries.

    “The man was treated and provided with advanced life support before being transported to Ermelo Provincial Hospital for urgent care.”

    This incident’s details are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

    TWO DEAD IN MPUMALANGA TAXI AND BAKKIE COLLISION

    Two people died and seven others were injured in a collision between a taxi and a bakkie in Mpumalanga.

    The accident took place at the intersection of the R547 and the R580 between Kriel and Kinross last week Tuesday.

    ER24 along with the Fire Department, traffic department and other private services responded to the collision. 

    Two women believed to be in their 30s or 40s were found lying outside the taxi showing no signs of life.

     They were declared dead on arrival by both ER24 and another service on-scene. 

    “A 50-year-old woman was also found lying approximately 50 meters from the taxi having suffered moderate injuries,” ER24 spokesperson, Ross Campbelle said.

    Furthermore, six other people were treated for minor to moderate injuries. They were transported to the same hospital by other services on the scene.

    Campbell said both the driver of the bakkie and the taxi were not injured and declined transportation to a hospital.
