    Police hunt suspects who gunned down DJ Sumbody and another

    The police are on the hunt for suspects behind the brutal shooting of Oupa Sefoka, better known as DJ Sumbody.

    POLICE HUNT SUSPECTS BEHIND FATAL SHOOTING IN JOHANNESBURG

    The Gauteng police have confirmed that two people were gunned down in the province in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said they received a complaint of a shooting incident on the corners of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive. This happened at around 00:30, he said.

    “Upon arrival at the scene, police found two people inside a VW Golf with gunshot wounds. Both victims, a driver and a passenger, were certified dead on the scene.”

    A third person was also shot during the incident. Masondo said this person was driving a BMW X5.

    He was taken to the nearest medical care centre for treatment of the gunshot wounds.

    MOTIVE OF THE SHOOTING IS NOT KNOWN

    The motive of the shooting is not yet known at this stage but police have activated a manhunt.

    “Gauteng acting police commissioner Major General Tommy Mthombeni has activated maximum resources to trace suspects responsible for the shooting,” said Masondo.

    Police appeal to anyone with information that can assist with the investigation must contact their nearest police station.

    DJ SUMBODY FAMILY ASKS FOR PRIVACY

    The death of the prominent DJ from Pretoria was announced on Sunday by his family spokesperson.

    According to the family, details of his death cannot be released but he “ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his passing”, said family spokesperson Mmanake Mokitimi.

    “Details surrounding his passing cannot be disclosed as investigations are still ongoing. The Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management have kindly requested privacy during this difficult time and will release a statement in due course. Details of the funeral and memorial service will be confirmed,” Mokitimi said.

    DJ Sumbody hails from Pretoria. He is known for owning Ayepyep Lounge in Sunnyside and Menlyn and had his debut hit-song also titled Ayepyep featuring DJ Tira and Thebe.
