The police in the Eastern Cape launched a manhunt for an unknown male murder suspect after a woman was allegedly gunned down in New Brighton on Tuesday morning, 30 August.
NEW BRIGHTON WOMAN SHOT AND KILLED
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit in Gqeberha are hunting for the suspect.
“It is alleged that at approximately 08:30, the suspect knocked on the door of the deceased house in Mini Street in New Brighton and enquired about the deceased,” said Janse van Rensburg.
The suspect entered the house and confronted Nompumelelo Madlokasi as she exited a room. He allegedly fired once and the bullet struck the victim in her head. She died at the scene after the man exited the house.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage; however, the police are investigating a case of murder.

In an unrelated incident, also in the Eastern Cape, New Brighton police issued a warrant of arrest for Luthando Bafani for his alleged involvement in a double murder that occurred in the area in July 2022.
