    Severe Weather Alerts

    IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

    1.A Yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rain leading to localised flooding of susceptible settlements, roads, low lying areas and bridges is expected along the coast and adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape spreading to the southern and central parts of KwaZulu-Natal in the afternoon.

    2.An Orange level 6 warning for disruptive rain leading to flooding of settlements, roads, low lying areas and bridges is expected over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape.

    3.A Yellow level 2 warning for disruptive snow resulting in icy roads and isolated loss of vulnerable livestock is expected over the north-eastern mountains of the Eastern Cape from the afternoon.

    4.An Orange level 5 warning for disruptive snow resulting in dangerous driving conditions and communities being inaccessible is expected over the extreme north-eastern parts (southern Drakensberg region) of the Eastern Cape from the afternoon.

    FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

    1.Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the eastern parts of North West, the extreme eastern parts of the Free State, Gauteng, the western and central parts of Limpopo and the north-western parts of Mpumalanga.

    ADVISORIES:

    1.Very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the southern interior of Namakwa District of the Northern Cape, the interior of the Western Cape, and the northern and eastern interior of the Eastern Cape until Tuesday while spreading to the south-western and western interior of KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.

    Temperature and UVB forecast

    Gauteng:

    Temperature: Fine, windy and warm, becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon. It will be hot in the north.

    The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

    Mpumalanga:

    Temperature: Fine and warm but hot to very hot in the Lowveld, becoming partly cloudy on the Highveld from the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered on the south-eastern Highveld.

    Limpopo:

    Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy over the central and eastern parts from the afternoon. It will be windy in places in the west.

    North-West Province:

    Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-west. It will be windy in places in the east.

    Free State:

    Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the extreme north-eastern parts where it will be partly cloudy but scattered in the south and along the Lesotho border. It will be windy in the east.

    Northern Cape:

    Temperature: Cloudy in the south and west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern parts but scattered in the extreme south-east.

    Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly.

    Western Cape:

    Temperature: Cloudy and cool to cold, becoming partly cloudy from the west by the afternoon. Isolated to scattered showers are expected over the eastern interior and along the south coast clearing from the afternoon.

    Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to to fresh south-westerly becoming light along the south coast from the afternoon.

    The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

    Eastern Cape:

    The Western half –Cloudy and cold with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the south.

    The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly, but light and variable east of Algoa Bay in the morning.

    The Eastern half -Cloudy and cold with widespread showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north-west. It will be very cold in the north-east with snow that is expected over the northern high-ground.

    The Eastern half -The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly in the south during the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly.

    Kwazulu-Natal:

    Temperature: Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the south. It will be warm in the north-west.

    Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly.

    The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
