    A devastating discovery in Polokwane this week has left a number of politicians concerned about Limpopo’s child murder rate. The body of a toddler was found by the roadside near a major highway – and it’s led to a course of introspection in the Provincial Legislature.

    Zandile Mafe’s bail appeal re-application was heard by a full bench of judges in the Cape Town High Court on Monday, 30 May.

    A handful of patients at the Steve Biko Academic facility had to be moved from their wards on Monday morning as a result of this latest Gauteng hospital fire. The provincial department of health confirmed that workers on site were able to put of the flames themselves.

    Premier Sihle ZIkalala confirmed on Sunday that three people died during the latest floods that struck about six weeks after the disaster that wreaked havoc in KZN.

    This brings the combined death toll to 459 people, with 88 still reported missing.

    A gang suspected of being responsible for car hijackings and armed robberies around Gauteng was arrested in Lanseria on Sunday, 29 May 2022.

    They were found with unlicensed firearms, ammunition and police uniform.

    Patients evacuated, structures damaged in Gauteng hospital fire

    A handful of patients at the Steve Biko Academic facility had to be moved from their wards on Monday morning, as a result of this latest Gauteng hospital fire. The provincial department of health confirmed that workers on site were able to put of the flames themselves.

    However, a number of temporary structures – including storage areas, isolation units, and triage tents – were damaged by the blaze. Most importantly though, this fire never became an inferno, and was quelled almost immediately.

    KZN Floods: Death toll has risen to 459, Qatar delivers aid

    Last month KwaZulu-Natal was battered by torrential rains causing one of the most devastating floodings in over three decades. Now it has been learned that more deaths were recorded across KZN after last week’s floods as Qatar delivers humanitarian aid.

    Gang of bogus cops suspected of hijackings, armed robberies arrested

    A gang suspected of being responsible for car hijackings and armed robberies around Gauteng was arrested in Lanseria on Sunday, 29 May 2022.

    They were found with unlicensed firearms, ammunition and police uniform. 

    The suspects aged between 26 and 36, are linked with various cases where victims are robbed and hijacked by people wearing police uniforms, said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo.

    BREAKING: Zandile Mafe bail application dismissed after another split judgement

    Zandile Mafe’s bail appeal re-application was heard by a full bench of judges in the Cape Town High Court on Monday, 30 May.

    The bail appeal was first heard by Judges Daniel Thulare and James Lekhuleni on 25 April.

    The pair reserved judgement on that day. On Monday, Lekhuleni told the court that the Judge President committed to a full bench after the court reached a split decision.
