A three-year-old boy has reportedly been mauled to death by two dogs believed to be Pitbulls at Sekoti-Mpate at Hennenman in the Free State.
Three-year-old Keketso Saule was reportedly bitten by the dogs in his neighbour’s yard.
ANOTHER MINOR MAULED TO DEATH BY PITBULLS
Police Spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli told the SABC that preliminary observations reveal that the boy was bitten on the head and he succumbed to severe head injuries.
Police have also been deployed to the area where the situation is reportedly tense as the community is threatening action against the owner.
Residents allegedly attacked the dogs and one of them was hit with garden spades, pelted with stones and ultimately burnt to death. The second dog was reportedly taken by the SPCA for safekeeping
The owner has also been whisked away by police for his safety.
The incident comes just days after eight-year-old Olebogeng Mosime was mauled to death by his neighbour’s dog.
Police spokesperson Thabo Covane said the Pitbull allegedly escaped from its enclosure, jumped over the fence and went to the neighbour’s premises. It then attacked the young boy who was playing alone, biting him severely on the neck and chest. The boy was declared dead at the scene.
The minor was laid to rest on Friday, 18 November.
