The weather service warned that scattered showers and HEAT-induced thunderstorms are expected in several parts of South Africa TODAY.
THE HEAT-INDUCED STORM IS EXPECTED ON NOW
According to Vox Weather, these weather conditions were already moving over the Eastern Cape and expected to reach KwaZulu-Natal later on Tuesday.

SEVERAL PARTS OF SOUTH AFRICA WILL BE AFFECTED
It furthermore said a yellow Level 2 warning was issued for severe thunderstorms over the escarpment and eastern Highveld in Mpumalanga, as well as the eastern parts of Limpopo.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) also issued a level 1 warning for the following areas:
“Localised structural damage and damage to vehicles can be expected. We advise people: -to park motor vehicles under shelter -stay indoors during hail storms.”

‘STAY INDOORS DURING STORMS’
Meanwhile, warnings were also issued for veld fire conditions in these areas:
- Dawid Kruiper – Twee Rivieren
- Twee Rivieren
- Dawid Kruiper – Upington
- Kai !Garib
- Augrabies Falls
“Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions, fires may develop and spread rapidly, resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life.”SAWS
It urged that fire teams be on standby.
