    WATCH: Woman dies after shark rips her arm and leg off at resort

    An elderly woman has died after a shark’ bit off her arm and leg’ at a tourist hotspot in Egypt. The shocking incident was caught on camera. Warning the article contains graphic content.

    THE WOMAN IS SEEN TRYING TO SWIM ASHORE

    The woman was busy snorkeling when the shark attacked her. The 68-year-old desperately tried to swim back to shore. 

    A large crowd watched the drama, but no one was seen entering the water to help the woman.

    Some reports said tourists rushed out of the water when the woman was attacked and tried to “distract the shark from the victim”.

    In the video, you can see the water turn red as the woman struggles to swim back. 

    THE WOMAN DIED SOON AFTER THE ATTACK

    She died soon later of ‘painful shock’ despite doctors’ best efforts back at shore.

    It is believed the woman was an Austrian citizen. 

    Due to the incident, swimming, diving, snorkeling, and fishing are prohibited for three days from July 1. Restrictions apply on the terrain from the Sahl Hasheesh area to Makadi Bay.

    THIS COMES DAYS AFTER MAN WAS KILLED BY SHARK IN SA

    Meanwhile, the man who was killed by a shark at Plettenberg Bay earlier this week has been identified as Bruce Wolov.

    Wolov was a beloved father who was passionate about the ocean.

    His family confirmed the news with the following Facebook post:

    “We will remember him as a loving husband, our dad and friend who was taken from us far too soon, while doing what he was passionate about.”

    THE MAN WAS REMEMBERED FOR HIS PASSION FOR THE OCEAN

    The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the Plettenberg Bay duty crew was activated following eye-witness reports of a shark incident involving a swimmer at Sanctuary Beach, on the Robberg side of Robberg 5, Plettenberg Bay.

    “NSRI rescue swimmers responded directly to the scene, and 2 NSRI rescue craft were launched.

    “On arrival on the scene, the body of a male, believed to be a local man, was located and recovered from the water, at the back surf line, onto an NSRI rescue craft. The body was brought to the NSRI Plettenberg Bay rescue station.”
